Our Story: Why We Created Flippos to Share the Moments That Matter
Some memories stay with you for reasons you don't quite understand. They aren't always the biggest moments in life. Sometimes, it's a first date, a late-night conversation, a silly photo, or an ordinary dinner that somehow becomes unforgettable.
For us, the story of Flippos started with one of those moments.
It started with an anniversary dinner
It was our anniversary, and my girlfriend and I were sitting at a restaurant waiting for our food. We were talking about our day when she reached into her bag and pulled out a small, handmade booklet.
Inside were photos and little notes from our time together: our first date, our first arcade game, our first getaway, and all kinds of small moments I had almost forgotten about. She had printed the photos, cut them out, arranged everything, and put the booklet together by hand.
It wasn't expensive or particularly fancy. But when I opened it, I was genuinely touched. Looking through those pages made me realize how many beautiful moments we had already shared without really stopping to appreciate them.
I still think about that little booklet from time to time. Somehow, a few printed photos and handwritten words became one of those memories that gets permanently burned into your mind.
What made it special wasn't really the booklet itself. It was the feeling behind it: “I remember these moments. They matter to me. And I wanted you to know that.”
That dinner eventually became the inspiration for Flippos.
Beautiful memories deserve to be shared
Beautiful memories deserve to be shared.
After that evening, I started thinking about how many people have the same kind of memories sitting inside their phones. Our camera rolls are full of photos from trips, birthdays, dinners, sunsets, friends, family, and people we love. We take thousands of pictures throughout our lives, yet most of them eventually disappear into an endless stream of photos.
We might look at them again when our phone tells us we're running out of storage, but otherwise they often just sit there.
At the same time, a traditional memory book is incredibly meaningful, but making one takes real effort. You have to find the photos, print them, cut them, arrange them, buy the materials, and put everything together. It's a wonderful project when you have the time, but most of us don't.
So I started wondering: What if making something meaningful could be as easy as choosing a few photos from your phone?
What if you could take those forgotten pictures and turn them into a digital memory book or personalized ecard in just a few minutes? Something that could be sent as an anniversary gift, a birthday surprise, a thank-you, or simply a little reminder to someone that you're thinking about them.
That was the idea behind Flippos.
Life is made of small moments
Life is full of beautiful things, but life is also busy. We work, travel, move to different cities, make new friends, start families, and grow older. Somehow, another year passes before we realize it.
Sometimes we look back and feel like we can't quite remember what happened during the last twelve months. Not because nothing happened, but because so much happened.
The beautiful moments were there. We just didn't stop long enough to hold onto them.
A sunset you watched together. A weekend by the ocean. A birthday dinner. A road trip with your best friend. The first apartment you shared. The ridiculous selfie from your first date. The vacation you didn't want to end. Even an ordinary Tuesday night when nothing special happened—except that you were together.
These moments can feel insignificant while they're happening. Years later, they can become some of the things we treasure most.
That's why I think our camera rolls are more valuable than we realize. Behind almost every meaningful photo is a story, a person, a place, or a feeling. The photo itself might only take up a few megabytes on your phone, but the memory behind it can be priceless.
Flippos is simply a way to bring some of those memories back to the surface.
You don't need a special occasion
One thing we love about memory gifts is that they don't always need a reason.
You don't have to wait for Valentine's Day. You don't need an anniversary, birthday, or holiday. Sometimes the best surprise is the one that arrives on an ordinary Tuesday.
You could send your partner a few photos from a trip you took years ago and say, “I was looking through my camera roll and found these. Remember this day?”
You could send your best friend photos from an old trip. You could make a small digital memory book for your parents. You could send someone you haven't spoken to in a while a collection of moments you still remember.
It doesn't have to be a grand gesture. It might only take a few minutes to choose the photos and write a few words.
But for the person receiving it, those few minutes can mean much more.
Because ultimately, the gift isn't the card. The gift is the memory.
Making meaningful gifts easier
That is what we wanted Flippos to do.
We don't want creating a personalized digital greeting card or digital memory book to feel like another project. You shouldn't need design skills or complicated software just to turn a few photos into something meaningful.
Pick your photos. Add your words. Choose a design. Share it with someone you care about.
That's it.
Our goal is simple: take the beautiful moments already sitting in your camera roll and make it easier to turn them into something you can actually give to another person.
Because a photo sitting in your phone is nice. A photo that reminds someone how much you love them is something else entirely.
A lifetime is made of moments
There is an old idea that a human life is roughly 30,000 days. Thirty thousand mornings, sunsets, dinners, trips, conversations, and ordinary days that pass whether we pay attention to them or not.
We spend so much of our lives waiting for the big moments that we sometimes forget that a life is really made from thousands of small ones.
The coffee you shared this morning. The friend who made you laugh until your stomach hurt. The person who held your hand on a difficult day. The trip you took last summer. The dinner where someone surprised you with a handmade memory book.
These are the things we eventually look back on.
So maybe we should hold onto them a little more carefully. Maybe we should tell people when they matter to us. Maybe we should send the message instead of thinking about sending it. Maybe we should turn the photo into the gift.
Make someone's day today
Flippos started with one small handmade memory book at an anniversary dinner. It reminded me of something simple: we don't always need a bigger gift. Sometimes we just need a more meaningful one.
There is probably someone in your life who has given you a memory worth keeping—a partner, a parent, a best friend, a sibling, or simply someone you care about.
Open your camera roll. You might be surprised by what you find.
That photo from the beach. That ridiculous selfie. That first trip. That dinner. That ordinary day that doesn't feel so ordinary anymore.
Choose a few. Write what you remember. Send it to them.
Because beautiful memories shouldn't end as forgotten files on a phone.
They deserve to be shared.
That's why we built Flippos.
